Legal and Regulatory Position

An overseas company may provide administrative, clerical, IT, documentation and support services to UK medico-legal businesses, provided that:

* It acts only under the instructions of the UK client

* It does not hold itself out as the regulated UK MRO unless properly registered

* It does not make independent clinical decisions

* It does not alter expert medical opinion without expert approval

* It does not interfere with MedCo selection or allocation rules

* It complies with confidentiality and data protection obligations

* It has proper written agreements with the UK client

* It has secure systems for handling personal and medical data
